Welcome to the New H.E.S., a unique nonprofit Jewish community center open to everyone and located in Southeast Brooklyn. Our core mission is to build a cordial community and to help those in need. H.E.S. serves approximately 700 people a day, has a voluntary Board of Directors and is a member agency of UJA-Federation of New York.
H.E.S. provides crucial educational, social and recreational programs to everyone in Southeast Brooklyn. H.E.S. services range the life span, from childcare and Universal Pre-K programs to a senior center providing meals to the elderly. H.E.S. serves the most vulnerable including new immigrants, single-working parents, at-risk youth and the physically and developmentally disabled. Our participants include African-Americans, Caribbean-Americans, Asians, elderly Jews, Israelis, Italians and émigrés from the former Soviet Union.
The Mission
The mission of the New H.E.S. is to enrich Jewish life and general community life through wide social activities which include social service, recreation, social education and cultural activities. The H.E.S. is a not-for-profit agency open to all those who wish to become members or wish to participate in the Center's varied activities.
