Coronavirus and the H.E.S.

Dear H.E.S. families, participants, and community,
In the past several weeks, the H.E.S. has shifted the way we work with the community. Our food services have expanded tremendously; we are proudly providing food pantry services to over 300 families (feeding over 1,500 people) and over 500 Grab-and-Go meals weekly.

Our programming departments went digital, using Google Classrooms to provide incredible daily content to you, in the comfort of your own home.
  • Live workouts from our sports and fitness team;
  • Live morning circle time, movement time, and so much more for our early childhood students;
  • Live age-appropriate discussion groups with our social services team;
  • Interactive and engaging after school activities;
  • Regularly updated at home materials and phone call check-in from our people with disabilities team;
  • Access hundreds of pieces of shared content to utilize at your leisure.

That is just some of what we are hard at work doing.

We, the H.E.S. staff, take great pride in being your community center and will continue to be here, to support the individuals and families of Southeast Brooklyn.

Please contact us during these difficult times by phone -718.241.3000- or email and we will do our best to provide services or connect you with appropriate support. Our website is being updated regularly.

We look forward to opening our doors again, Friday, May 1st, of course, this date is subject to change based on city regulations and requirements. Please visit for updates, additional COVID-19 resources, and program news.
