AFTER SCHOOL

The H.E.S. After School Program fosters your child’s academic, social, emotional, and physical growth in a warm and nurturing environment. The program is based on values such as honesty, respect, and responsibility from positive role models. 

Ages 4 to 14

Thursday, September 10, 2026 – Wednesday, June 23, 2027

Monday – Friday:  2 – 6 pm
Monday – Thursday: After Care until 7 pm. Please inquire with the H.E.S. about After Care. 

The H.E.S. adheres to all state and local regulations pertaining to licensing, health and safety.

The After School program provides:

• Fun-filled enrichment activities such as Chess, Zumba, Step, Gym, Arts & Crafts, Dance, Baking, Martial Arts and Group Discussion
• Pick up from most local schools 
• Homework support
• Academic enrichment
• NYS test preparation
• Daily nutritious dinner

Our After School Program is fully licensed and led by trained & certified staff. Vouchers are accepted. 

Upon registering for After School, please download the After School Parent Packet, complete and sign the required forms. To submit the completed and signed forms, please scan and email them to afterschool@thehes.org or bring the forms to the H.E.S. Registration Office.

For school holidays or vacation days, children can join us at the H.E.S. Vacation Program for a full day of sports, dance, arts and crafts, STEM, and so much more.

For children with disabilities, we offer and run the R.A.P. Room, an after school program that provides enriching services for children 4 to 16 years old.

With the support of special needs counselors, our R.A.P. Room students have individualized homework help and specialist-led activities in environments that are customized to be both therapeutic and inspirational. Learn more about the R.A.P. Room.

School may be out but the H.E.S. is still here for you! For school holidays or vacation days, children can join us at the H.E.S. for a full day of sports, dance, arts and crafts, STEM, and so much more.  Lunch is provided daily.

A valid health exam form is required to attend the H.E.S. Vacation Program. 

In addition to the health exam form, there are also required H.E.S. documents; All must be submitted prior to your child’s attendance in the program.

The H.E.S. hosts a FREE After School Program through the NYC-funded SONYC program for students in 6th – 8th grade. 
COMPASS NYC’s middle school model, also known as SONYC for School’s Out NYC, serves as a pathway to success. Structured like clubs, the model offers young people a choice in how they spend their time; provides rigorous instruction in sports and arts; and requires youth leadership through service. The City itself becomes a classroom through trips and opportunities for instruction beyond a traditional learning setting. Programs are offered three hours each day, five days per week.

The SONYC program at H.E.S. provides:

• Pick up from most local schools 
• Academic enrichment & support
• Cultural Arts, STEM (Science/Technology/Engineering/Mathematics), PE and Leadership Development
• NYS test preparation
• Daily nutritious dinner
  
• 5 Vacation Day Trips

There are two steps to take to register:

Step 1: Complete Your DYCD Registration

1. Click here and visit the DYCD website 
2. Click “Sign-In” in the top right corner
3. Click “Create Account” or follow the steps to log in if you have already created your account.
4. Add your details and your child’s details, then move on to the next page.
5. On the DYCD Dashboard, check off the box labeled “After School Programs”
6. Type in 11236 in the box labeled “Zip Code” and make sure “Within 0.5 Miles” is selected in “Select Distance.” The H.E.S. will be listed on the map in the designated blue box seen at the bottom. Please select this box and then click “+ Add to List”
7. Navigate to Dashboard in the top left corner to add additional applicants, or continue your application process under your existing application by clicking the blue button labeled “Apply”.

Step 2: Complete Your H.E.S. Registration 

1. Register on our website.

2. Download, complete, and return to the H.E.S. the two parts of the required SONYC forms. To submit the completed and signed forms, please scan and email them to [email protected] or bring the forms to the H.E.S. Registration Office.
