EARLY CHILDHOOD

EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER AT THE H.E.S.

WE CARE FOR YOUR CHILDREN AS IF THEY WERE OUR OWN.

WE’RE NOW REGISTERING FOR 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR!

OUR SCHOOL
We recognize that to be successful in school, our children need support from both home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education.

Despite the challenges of COVID-19, this year will be filled with great learning opportunities for our students, as well as the parents. Families can choose from three learning options:
  • All Virtual
  • Blended
  • All In-person

Our program is designed specifically for the age and level of each child; promoting all areas of development including intellectual, physical, social, and emotional. It is our goal to provide excellent services to the community in which we serve and to meet the needs of all our students.

We passionately believe that every child deserves the opportunity to get off to a good start and to build a bright future and we are honored that you have chosen us to be the first stepping stone in your child’s journey. So, on behalf of all the H.E.S. staff, welcome to the early childhood center!

Our licensed Early Childhood Center accepts children 2 ½ to 5 years of age.

OUR STAFF
Classrooms are staff by a lead teacher and an assistant teacher.  Teachers hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education and are working toward master’s degrees and New York State Teacher Certification.

OUR FAMILIES
Our families are an integral part of the school.  We have a Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) made up of parents from across our program.  PAC board members are voted into office by their fellow parents and together, the families and school building a rich learning environment for the children.  Parent volunteers support the school by assisting with school-wide activities and raising funds to enrich the children’s learning experiences.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE H.E.S. EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER INCLUDE:
  • Indoor gym and structured physical education class once a week
  • Outdoor playgrounds on the premises
  • Breakfast, lunch, and snack
  • Access to resources offered by the H.E.S. Community Center

FAMILY DEVICE REQUEST

The DOE is assessing the need for student devices in the fall. Similar to last year, iPads will be distributed based on high need priorities such as vulnerable populations (i.e. students in temporary housing, foster care) and students who lack internet connection at home.

In order to help identify families still in need of devices, we are asking that families fill out the Remote Learning Device Request Form by Monday, August 31. Families can complete the form at the link above or call the help desk for assistance at 718-935-5100.

If families do not know their child’s OSIS number, please ask them to enter all 9s in the OSIS number box to complete the form.

Please note August 31 is not a hard deadline, as the form will remain open throughout the year for families to use to notify schools of new devices and internet connectivity needs. However, we urge programs to have as many families complete the form by August 31 as possible for the DOE to properly identify needs and do our best to acquire the right amount of devices.
